The UCFCU Experience

At United Community Federal Credit Union, people come first! We are dedicated to helping our members and their families reach their financial goals. That’s why we offer a wide variety of competitive products and services, knowledgeable staff and a high service standard to our members. You can also feel safe and confident knowing that your money is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government, for up to $250,000. Individual Retirement Accounts are insured separately for up to $250,000.

Last year alone, credit union membership in the United States grew by 2 million people and deposits toppled over $1 trillion, according to the Credit Union National Association. Americans are catching on that credit union membership is a beneficial piece of the financial puzzle!

How To Become A Member

Membership is easy. There is no application fee to join United Community Federal Credit Union. Simply fill out a membership application and return it with your initial deposit of $5.00 to the credit union. This is not a fee. It represents your “share” of ownership and will become your first deposit into a Share Savings Account. There are several ways to qualify for membership:

• You live, work, worship, volunteer or attend school in Allegheny, Washington, or Westmoreland Counties, Pennsylvania
• You are an immediate relative or reside with a current member of UCFCU

Once you become a member of United Community Federal Credit Union, you become a member for life, even if you change jobs, relocate, or retire. Plus, after you become a member your family members (spouse, children, brothers or sisters, parents, grandparents, grandchildren and adoptive or “step” relations) are automatically eligible for membership. US Patriot Act
Help us in the war against terrorism The USA PATRIOT ACT requires credit unions to take extra security precautions to help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities. Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. These new procedures are designed to prevent crimes, such as identity theft and account fraud, that terrorists commit to finance their operations against the U.S. and its citizens.

When an account is opened or changed, you will be asked for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying government-issued documents. The definition of an account covers a broad range of regular financial transactions such as deposit, transaction, asset, or credit accounts or other extension of credit. The required verification may be inconvenient for some but a strong deterrent for terrorists and other criminals. You can rest assured that we will only request the information required by law…and that we will use the information only for purposes of complying with the law. Your privacy is our top concern, and we will respect and protect it as always, consistent with the law’s requirements.
